Overview

What is the TrueMoney API?

A TrueMoney API is a programmatic way to charge a customer's TrueMoney Wallet in Thai baht and be told when the payment completes. Boldrails provides that API, the completion webhook behind it, and the THB collection side. Thailand is on request, and we confirm the route for your business at onboarding.

TrueMoney Wallet is a Thai e-money wallet operated by Ascend Money, whose shareholders include Charoen Pokphand Group and Ant Group, as reported by Forbes and TechCrunch in September 2021. The payer confirms the charge with a one-time password sent to their phone, not with card details. The rail moves THB only.

Electronic money is one of the designated payment services under Thailand's Payment Systems Act B.E. 2560 (2017), the statute the Bank of Thailand oversees. PromptPay is the national account-to-account rail. It sits beside the wallet and behaves differently.

Routes

Is there an official TrueMoney payment gateway API for merchants?

No. TrueMoney publishes no open, self-serve merchant API that you can sign up for and call. The two routes it does publish both end in a contract with the rail owner.

RouteIntegration timeAnnual connectionsMonthly sales floorConnection fee
Via a Partner Gateway14 to 30 daysUnlimitedNoneNone
Direct with True Money Co., Ltd.3 to 6 monthsCapped annual quotaMore than 10,000 sales transactionsNone

Searches for a TrueMoney API often land on the rail owner's Open API. That product is an incoming-transfer webhook notifier for small shops, and eligibility is gated at more than 50 transactions per month. It notifies you that money arrived, and it can generate a payment link or QR code for the payer. What it does not give you is a checkout, settlement into a business account, refunds or dispute handling. The unofficial PHP library on GitHub is the other common dead end. It still requires partner-program credentials, and its sandbox only runs Bangkok office hours, Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00. A free library does not remove the contract.

Checkout.com, Opn Payments, 2C2P and GUPay all publish TrueMoney Wallet documentation on the gateway route. Some acquirers reach the wallet through Alipay+ instead of directly. That is one reason two quotes for the same rail can differ. Boldrails works that route too, on request. One eligibility condition catches sellers out before any of this matters: the rail owner requires the merchant to own its own website or application, so a business selling only through an e-marketplace does not qualify on either route.

Integration

How to accept TrueMoney payments with Boldrails

Six steps, and most of the work is server-side.

  1. 1

    Apply and complete KYB

Send us your company documents and your processing history. Onboarding takes 3 to 14 days, depending on your case.

  2. 2

    Get sandbox credentials

Test keys come before production. Run the whole flow in test mode, including a duplicate.

  3. 3

    Create a THB charge

Call our API with the amount in THB and your order reference. We create the charge against the customer's TrueMoney Wallet.

  4. 4

    Hand the payer the approval

Send them the redirect or the deep link. They confirm with a one-time password sent to their phone.

  5. 5

    Take the completion webhook

We post the result to your endpoint. Match it to your order reference, then mark the order paid. The completion webhook, not the redirect return, is the source of truth.

  6. 6

    Go live and reconcile

Switch to live keys, then watch charge status and settlement in the dashboard.

Mobile teams trip over one decision. On a phone you choose between a deep link into the wallet app and an in-app WebView. That choice stays invisible until it breaks a checkout. Developers hunting for a true wallet api in PHP hit that fork first.

Rail comparison

TrueMoney Wallet or PromptPay: which should you accept?

On the one Thai rate card that publishes both, accepting TrueMoney Wallet costs a full percentage point more than accepting PromptPay QR, 2.65% against 1.65%, both before 7% VAT. That provider footnotes the wallet rate as a separate quote for businesses selling digital content, so digital-goods sellers should confirm their own number. The wallet is a reach decision, not a cost decision.

Two third-party comparisons of a second Thai provider both put the wallet about a point above the QR rail, though they disagree on the absolute rates. The spread is the durable finding; the exact percentages belong to one provider's card.

Every populated cell was read from a provider's own published documentation on the date shown in the last column, and the ceiling and expiry rows were re-checked against the source pages on 2 August 2026. Where a provider publishes nothing, the cell reads "not published" rather than a guess. Provider names are given in the text rather than as links, because we do not link competitor sites.

What buys back the extra point is the refund path. Full and partial refunds on TrueMoney Wallet are documented at two providers, and one publishes a 30-day refund window with a 1-day void window. On the bank QR rail, refunds are frequently unavailable.

Ceilings are a provider setting, not a scheme rule. One provider publishes a THB 30,000 maximum per charge and another publishes THB 100,000, on the same national rail. Some acquirers also reach TrueMoney through Alipay+ and price it as a separate method. PromptPay is national infrastructure overseen by the Bank of Thailand; the wallet is a private balance. Most Thai checkouts end up carrying both.

Eligibility

Can a foreign company accept TrueMoney?

Two questions get merged here. The consumer one first: foreign residents in Thailand can hold a TrueMoney Wallet with a passport or a pink Thai ID card, according to a published consumer guide.

The merchant question is separate. Every documented route runs through a Partner Gateway contract or a direct contract with True Money Co., Ltd. The rail owner also requires the merchant to own its site or app. That rules out marketplace-only sellers.

Accepting electronic payment on behalf of others is a designated payment service under the Payment Systems Act B.E. 2560 (2017), licensed by the Minister of Finance on the Bank of Thailand's advice, with the Bank of Thailand handling registration. TrueMoney also runs in other Southeast Asian markets under separate entities and regulators. Guidance written for one of them does not describe the Thai rail.

Boldrails holds the necessary licences required in the markets we serve. Thailand is on request, and we confirm the route at onboarding.

This Thailand eligibility and regulatory framing reflects Bank of Thailand materials and rail-owner documentation as of 1 August 2026. The foreign-resident wallet point comes from a single published consumer guide, cited below, and is reported rather than confirmed with a regulator.

Connection itself is free. The rail owner states there is no connection fee on either merchant route. What actually costs you money is the percentage and the payout fee. The rail owner publishes its own acceptance rate only as a redacted placeholder. The concrete public numbers come from provider rate cards, not from TrueMoney. Most acquirers on this rail quote privately, so read a single published percentage as a reference point, not a market rate. Thai rates are customarily quoted exclusive of 7% VAT, and offshore buyers routinely miss it. We quote your THB rate once we have seen your volume, your vertical and your refund pattern.

Who it's for

Who we serve in Thailand

Boldrails is built for high-risk and high-volume merchants, and Thailand is on request. This rail suits:

  • Merchants selling digital goods and services to Thai consumers

  • Subscription businesses that need recurring collection in THB

  • Cross-border sellers who need THB collection with settlement elsewhere

  • High-volume merchants who want the wallet and the bank rail behind one API

  • Developers who need sandbox access and webhook-driven reconciliation

  • Businesses that mainstream acquirers decline on risk grounds

TrueMoney Wallet and PromptPay both sit on the Thailand list we work from, on request. Send us your entity and your volume, and we confirm which rails fit your business at onboarding.
