What it is

What is a crypto payment gateway?

A crypto payment gateway is a service that lets a business accept digital currencies, like Bitcoin or stablecoins, and settle them in fiat or crypto. It generates payment addresses, tracks blockchain confirmations, locks the exchange rate at checkout, and handles settlement and compliance. You never have to manage blockchain transactions by hand.

A gateway is not a wallet. A wallet stores and sends coins. A gateway processes merchant payments, confirms them, converts value when needed, and settles funds to your account, with reporting and compliance built in.

Boldrails serves licensed businesses and runs full KYC on every merchant. We are a regulated B2B gateway, not a no-KYC consumer tool.

Acceptance

Accept crypto and stablecoin payments

We acquire crypto and stablecoin payments directly. Your customers pay in Bitcoin (BTC) and the major stablecoins, USDT and USDC. You can accept payments four ways:

  • Hosted checkout, with no front-end work
  • Payment links you send by message or email
  • A direct API integration
  • E-commerce plugins for common platforms

We accept stablecoins across major chains, including Ethereum, Solana, Polygon and Base. Once a payment confirms on-chain, it is final. There are no card-style chargebacks to dispute.

Crypto-fiat settlement

Settle in fiat or crypto

Here is what sets a crypto gateway apart: you choose how the money lands. We lock the exchange rate the moment your customer pays. Then we settle the payment to your bank account in fiat, or to your wallet in crypto. The choice is yours, set per merchant or per transaction.

Settling to fiat removes price volatility. The amount you agree to at checkout is the amount you receive, even if the market moves while the payment confirms.

We settle these funds directly as a licensed principal provider. We do not route you to a third party.

Payouts & ramp

Crypto payouts, mass payouts and on/off-ramp

Paying out is half the job. We disburse crypto and stablecoin payouts to many recipients in a single batch, so you can settle affiliates, suppliers, traders or staff at once with mass payouts.

We also run crypto on/off-ramp between fiat and crypto, so you move value in either direction without leaving the dashboard. Developers trigger every disbursement through the same payout API.

For large volumes, our OTC desk handles the trade at a quoted rate. Use scheduled crypto payouts for routine runs, and the desk for size.

  • Batched mass payouts in a single API call.
  • On/off-ramp between fiat and crypto.
  • OTC desk for high-volume conversion.

Pricing & API

Pricing, fees and API integration

Crypto gateway pricing has three parts: a transaction fee, the blockchain network fee, and any FX spread when you convert to fiat. Across the market, transaction fees run about 0.5% to 2% per payment. Network fees depend on the chain and the moment of sending.

ComponentWhat it covers
Transaction feeThe gateway fee per payment (market about 0.5% to 2%)
Network feeThe blockchain fee to move the asset
FX spreadApplied only when you convert crypto to fiat

Boldrails pricing is quote-based. Your rate depends on your vertical, your volume, and your settlement currency. Request a quote to get your number.

One integration covers everything. Build on our crypto API, test in a sandbox, and receive webhooks on every confirmation. We support stablecoin API calls, USDT settlement, and e-commerce plugins.

Licensing & compliance

Is a crypto payment gateway legal?

Working with a licensed provider protects your funds and keeps your settlement clean. Here is where crypto stands in Nigeria.

Crypto is legal but regulated. Under the Investments and Securities Act 2025, digital assets are treated as securities under the SEC. Virtual Asset Service Providers, or VASPs, must hold an SEC licence. Since the CBN's December 2023 guidelines, banks may operate designated accounts for SEC-licensed VASPs.

Boldrails operates as a licensed principal provider and runs KYC and AML checks on every merchant.

A compliant business gateway always requires KYC. No-KYC tools are consumer products, not licensed merchant gateways.

Who it's for

Who it's for

We built this for high-risk and high-volume merchants:

  • Forex and CFD brokers
  • Crypto businesses and exchanges
  • High-volume e-commerce
  • iGaming and betting operators, where licensed

Crypto runs on the same API as cards and mobile money. One integration, many rails, and settlement in fiat or crypto. That is the money stack.

Compare

How Boldrails compares

Most crypto gateways do one thing: crypto, in one region. BVNK and Triple-A focus on enterprise treasury. CoinGate and NOWPayments are crypto-only processors. BitPay is a US-headquartered gateway. None of them put crypto, cards and mobile money on one API for emerging markets, and none accept high-risk merchants by design.
